I scanned an old photograph from my parents wedding day and gave it a quick facelift.

Restoration #1

Below is an untouched scan of a photograph of my parents on their wedding day. I’ve always had a soft spot for this photo and noticed that it was getting a bit faded and had picked up a few scratches.

With the impending doom of the photograph in mind I set about performing a swift restoration. The result of which can be seen below. The process involved cropping the image, balancing/correcting the levels, balancing/correcting the colours, about an hour of rubber stamp and healing brush cleaning-up, a focused darkening of the bottom third using a mask and finally a little saturation kick for the colours. I did not sharpen the image as it was not having the desired effect. There was a little too much noise, grain and dirt to justify it.
