Sub-zero temperatures, freezing fog, frozen lakes. Despite the warming goodness of the Gulf Stream Ireland has been hit by a very cold spell. And it’s getting kind of tedious.

A Cold Spell

Ireland has been hit by its most prolonged period of snow and ice in over 30 years. The first couple of days of the snow fall were quite enjoyable. That strange squeaky crunch of snow under foot. Wrapping up in scarves, gloves and hats. Then the melt began (in Wicklow at least) and everyone thought things would get back to normal…that was until the thawing snow got frozen overnight and turned the country into an ice-rink.

I am not good on ice. I am like a new-born foal wearing roller skates to be honest. The temperatures are not set to rise any time soon, so I want more snow. That way I will be able to walk around without breaking an elbow.

I still haven’t managed to get my camera out into the icy wastes of Wicklow. Hopefully there will be some more snowfall soon so I can get some nice wintry shots. I leave you with the one and only shot I have got so far (on my phone). I think I was stating the obvious here.
